Who's that Bill? part I

My job can get pretty repetitive. Every day I take the Red Line down to Addison, wait in a long line with my fellow vendors, get my product, enter Wrigley Field and sell my stuff for about three hours. I then leave during the eighth inning, hop back on the CTA and return to my house. After washing my uniform and counting my money, I do it all over again.

Being the easily bored person that I am, I’m always looking for something to make work more entertaining. Sometimes I interview fans about a certain subject. Or maybe I’ll try a new shout. And twice a year, I play a little game I created a few years back. It’s called ‘Who’s that Bill?’

I always wanted to figure out how much of the money that I brought to the park did I actually come home with. So what I would do was write stuff on all of the dollar bills I had, and then at the end of the day, see which ones were still in my apron. It started off with just numbers, and then it progressed to players on the Cubs. (Last year the Nomar Garciaparra bill ended up in my friend Marc’s apron, meaning I had sold somebody a hot dog, gave him that bill for change, and then he went and bought a bag of peanuts from Marc using that same cash.) This year I’ve decided that instead of using the Cubs roster, since that would be an insult to both the bills and the fans that will receive them, I will be writing names of NFL running backs on the currency. I take $100 bucks to the game, and $10 is in quarters. I then have one ten-dollar bill, ten five dollar bills and thirty singles. Here is an overview of each bill I’m bringing to Wrigley (and how much they are worth)

Shaun Alexander ($10)
Ladanian Tomlinson ($5) Clinton Portis ($5)
Larry Johnson ($5) Ronnie Brown ($5)
Thomas Jones ($5) Carnell Williams ($5)
Edrigen James ($5) Tiki Barber ($5)
Rudi Johnson ($5) Steven Jackson ($5)
Willis McGahee ($1) Julius Jones ($1)
Domanick Davis ($1) Kevin Jones ($1)
Warrick Dunn ($1) Corey Dillon ($1)
Willie Parker ($1) Jamal Lewis ($1)
Reggie Bush ($1) DeShaun Foster ($1)
Chester Taylor ($1) Joseph Addai ($1)
Tatum Bell ($1) Fred Taylor ($1)
Ron Dayne ($1) Ahman Green ($1)
Curtis Martin ($1) Mike Anderson ($1)
Dominic Rhodes ($1) Brian Westbrook ($1)
LaMont Jordan ($1) Chris Brown ($1)
Cederic Benson ($1) TJ Duckett ($1)
Marshall Faulk ($1) Michael Pittman ($1)
Deuce McAllister ($1) Michael Bennett ($1)
Travis Henry ($1) Lee Suggs ($1)

After the game I’ll let you know how many running backs I kept, how I did financially and also my opinions on the return of Derek Lee. Also I’ll have random thoughts on the NBA Draft, World Cup and some of the successful teams in Major League Baseball.

Also, if you are at the park on Thursday and happen to buy something from me, check the bottom line of the non-face side of the bill to see if you have a running back.
