Passing time before more hoops

I don't watch a lot of TV. Actually that's not true. I don't watch a lot of TV that isn't sports-related. There are only a few shows that I enjoy, and they all are some form of comedy. But the best shows don't make jokes about only one subject, they all like to poke fun at a wide variety of life. And that includes sports. Here are the best sports-related clips from some of my favorite shows.

Chappelle’s Show
America’s funniest comedian doesn’t discuss sports much, but this sketch from Season 1 of his show is pure genius. I especially like the names and the fact that he discusses the most often over-looked aspect of bowling: defense.

The Fresh Prince of Bel Air
I'm sure there's a better clip from Fresh Prince, but I couldn't find one. The best part of this is the size of the basketball court. You'd think that the show's producers could have found a full-size court somewhere in LA to film on (such as the park from the intro). But instead they use one where the three-point line practically touches mid-court. Who knows why.

Seinfeld
There are a lot of worthy clips from this show, but I had to use this one. The scenario is that the Yankees think George is dead, because he can't be found and his car is all beat up (He's actually on vacation). George's dad's reaction is the best...spoken like a true fan.

Home Improvement
Funny for a couple of reasons, but the most obvious one being that Isaiah Thomas plays an important role in the comedy.

The Office
By Office standards it's not that funny. I just couldn't find another sports clip from the show.

Curb Your Enthusiasm
Only the funniest show on TV would consider going to Jewish services a sport. Impossible not to laugh at, especially if you are/were one of the thousands of kids who asked their parents why they needed tickets to go to pray.

Entourage
Most of the clip has nothing to do with sports, but there is one line that I just love. E-Town represent, even though he's kind of dissing Micahel Jordan.

The Simpsons
By far the funniest clip of them all. So much to love here, including making fun of Monday Night Football, one-named soccer players and celeb athletes selling out for a product. And don't forget Kent Brockman's announcing.
