Product---Jumbo Hot Dogs
Temperature---74 degrees, sunny after third inning
Oh man. That’s all there is to say when lefty Will Ohman comes out of the pen. Yeah, he did get the win on opening day. But here’s what his last two appearances have looked like: On Tuesday, he recorded no outs, allowed four hits, five runs, including two homers, and had a walk. Today he came in with the Cubs down 5-3, and gave up two runs on one hit and one walk. Not exactly what you’re looking for from your southpaw out of the bullpen. If this happens again, can we please bring up my boy Rich Hill?
And while we are on the subject of people that are killing the Cubs this season, what the hell has gotten into Adam Dunn? A career .250 hitter, he struck out a combined 659 times between 2002 and 2005. This season he’s hitting .370, only ten K’s, and already has four homers in five games against us. Good thing we don’t see the Reds again until May 29.
Observations:
Today was ‘Old Style’ day for us vendors, which means that the execs from Old Style were at the game making sure that were pushing their product. This translates to more Bud guys forced to take the Style, and more Style guys forced to take jumbos, which means more competition for me. Still, I pulled in $131.45…Count me as one of the people who are against the change in song when the Cubs take the field to start the game. For 21 years, from ’84 up until last season, it was always Van Halen’s ‘Jump’. Now they change songs every day. Todays pick was ‘Clocks’ by Coldplay, a decent song, but it doesn’t really get you pumped up the way ‘Jump’ did…I wonder how Kosher hot dogs did today, considering it is Passover and anybody who will only go for Kosher’s wasn’t buy a hot dog…Cubs are now 1-1 when my friend Brian is at the game…I think I saw Scott Eyre’s family at the game today. Either that or four real hardcore fans that already have their #47 Eyre jerseys... Cubs are on the road for the next couple of weeks, so no more game updates until April 24.
