It's a Mad(den) World

I usually don’t write on National Holidays, but today will have to be an exception. Because today is a holiday for everybody out there just like me, the people who wait all 52 weeks of the year for days like today. The people who have always have the pigskin on their mind, from the opening kickoff in September to the when training camps open in the middle of July. For those of us who love every little thing about football, from the punishing hits to the jaw-dropping jukes to the wonderful strategy. Yes, it’s Madden release day, a day for a nationwide football celebration.

For those of you who don’t know what Madden is, please follow these instructions.
1) Stop reading this blog
2) Go to your local Best Buy or Circuit City
3) Purchase an XBOX 360 or PS3 and Madden NFL ‘08
4) Enjoy

For those of you who do know, play, and love Madden like I do, today is a day of joy. Finally, a chance to break out the finger-twitching hit stick, the thumb-tapping of the turbo button and the widespread detail of the Franchise mode. I would write more, but honestly, I want to go play. So I’ll leave you with this, the opening video to this years Madden video game:
