Making more picks

One more week until winter break, when I will be free to post two or three times a week.

Until then, enjoy my week 13 NFL picks. (Though surprisingly the most important game of the week, the Windy City Flyer’s against the broncos2007 in my fantasy league isn’t on the board. A win by the WCF puts them in the playoffs despite starting off 1-4 and getting almost no production from my four of my top five picks (Steven Jackson, Marvin Harrison, Tony Gonzalez and Lee Evans. The only one that’s done anything from the top 5 is Edgerrin James). Thank God I picked up Braylon Edwards after some idiot dropped him after week one and the Seahawks decided to throw the ball 40 times a game, since my QB is Matt Hasselbeck. Anyways, Yahoo has installed me 12 point favorites. (I’m serious, Yahoo projects the point totals to create a point spread for the very reason that people will bet on a game they are already betting on.)

My picks, which already stand at 0-1 because of the brain-dead Bears (more about that next week), are in bold.

Miami at Buffalo

St. Louis at Cincinnati

Carolina at Jacksonville

Dallas at Detroit

Tampa Bay at Houston

Oakland at Green Bay

San Diego at Tennessee

New York Giants at Philadelphia

Minnesota at San Francisco

Arizona at Seattle

Kansas City at Denver

Pittsburgh at New England

Indianapolis at Baltimore

New Orleans at Atlanta

Last Week: 11-5
Season to Date: 117-75

By the way, in case you are wondering why I took the Pats instead of the Steelers, I thought long and hard about it. And it really came down to two basic thoughts:
1) Do I think that Tom Brady will allow a blitzing defense to get to him for the third week in a row or will he make adjustments? I figured that Golden Boy would do something different this week, even though Pittsburgh’s D is better than both Philly’s and Baltimore’s.
2) Can I justify picking against an un-beaten team at home after the underdog had a 2nd year backup cornerback guarantee a win.

That being said, watch the Steelers blitz Brady to death and CB Anthony Smith nab the game-winning interception.
